Kansas City (June 6):
Approximately 18 stakeholders attended from: BC/BS,
OSH, Crittenton, BesCare, KCSL, ResCare, Heart of America Family
Services, WDAG, Eagle, Arch. KCK, KVC.
Questions and Comments:
Preventive health care for children must be maintained.
Changes with Larned State Hospital and Osawatomie State Hospital
mentioned but nothing about Rainbow - will it close?
Services for the blind need to be improved.
More children may come into custody as result of Family Preservation
cuts.
Unintended outcomes these cuts will cause.
HCBS elimination of transportation will hurt Wyandotte County
consumers who do not have own transportation - consumers will miss
doctor appointments, may have to go to nursing homes, etc.
Reduction in CIF will adversely affect child care.
Increase in prescription co-pays will adversely affect consumers'
ability to get medications.
