Family Preservation ServicesIntensive,
well-designed early care and education for infants, toddlers and young children
enrich childrens early experiences and provide critical support to their
families. Positive effects of quality care, early intervention and prevention
activities last a lifetime. These activities contribute to positive learning behavior,
long term school success, and improved likelihood of long-term social and economic
well being. Family services, including family preservation, continue these efforts
by building on families strengths and helping them to establish and maintain
a safe and nurturing environment for their children. Family
Preservation services are intensive in-home services offered to families who are
in imminent danger of having a child come into the custody of the department and
removed from their home unless the family can make the changes necessary to provide
adequate care and safety. These services assist the family in identifying and
understanding the problems within the family that place a child at risk of out-of-home
placement and assist them in finding ways to change how the family unit functions.
This program was privatized July 1, 1996. The srs social worker is responsible
for monitoring service delivery to achieve established outcomes. |
