Community Residential Services (for Adults)
Health Care Policy oversees the Medicaid reimbursement for the
13 nursing facilities for mental health (NFMH) in the state which
are licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
There are approximately 690 persons residing in NFMHs. Because of
federal restrictions, the state does not recieve a federal match
on residents who are eligible for Medicaid but who are under the
age of 65. This group represents two-thirds of all NFMH residents.
The average daily rate paid to these facilities is $49.98.
The division oversees and anually licenses Residential Care Facilities
(RCFs) for persons with mental illness. There are 43 RCFs with a
total capacity of approximately 500 beds. The division also annually
licenses 11 one and two bed, adult family homes with a total capacity
of approximately 20. For more information visit Health
Care Policy.
