Program Update Wichita General Mail Facility Has New Manager: Phillip Carr began managing the General Mail Facility on 3/5/06. Phillip started BEP training in 1996 with Fred Sturm, KVF manager. Phillip’s first vending facility was the Internal Revenue Services’ Rosana Square location in Overland Park. He managed this location from October 1997 to June 1998. He left this location to begin his new venture with the highway vending in western Kansas from December 1998 to March 2006. Phillip likes being self-employed because he likes to be his own boss and work the hours that he prefers. His goal is to provide fresh vending products by having all of his vending machines clean and working in good order. |

| Highway Vending Update: Talk at the national level has some states wanting to pursue traveler services along federal interstate highways akin to that provided on turnpikes, i.e.: restaurants, gasoline stations, and other traveler related services. This may impact the highway vending portion of our program. Recent contact with the Kansas Department of Transportation indicated no upcoming change in the way the Kansas rest areas are operated.
Fort Riley Update: June 1, 2006 marked the intentionally quiet and smooth start of food services contract. The Fort Riley Contracting Office has requested a proposal for full food and dining facility attendant services at two new facilities in Camp Funston. This modification will become a part of our existing contract.
