Description Child Care for TAF recipients employed and/or participating in Work Programs. Child Care for Mandatory Food Stamp work registrants participating in Work Programs (other than employment). Child Care for Children Families in Crisis Child Care for low income employed families, including employed Food Stamp recipients. Child care for low income teen parents completing high school/GED. Child care available to families currently employed also requesting child care assistance for participation in approved education/training activities.
Program Goals: Provide child care support service to low-income families to support employment and lead to financial self sufficiency. Assistance for TAF clients to allow participation in Work Programs. Assistance for eligible Food Stamp recipients who are participating in Work Programs. Assistance for parents with children at risk of abuse/neglect or out-of-home placement (FS) Assistance for income eligible parents who are employed. Assistance for income eligible teen parents to allow completion of high school/GED. Assistance for persons needing to enhance current employment and/or earning potential through education and/or training. 
Eligibility Criteria: TAF recipients who are employed or participating in Work Programs. Eligible for Food Stamps only (no TAF) and participating in Work Programs (other than employment). Income may or may not exceed 150% of federal poverty level. Not receiving TAF for own needs.

Funding Streams:  The Child Care Program uses State Funds, Child Care and Development Funds, Social Services Block Grant Funds, U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Stamp Employment and Training Funds and TANF Transfer Funds.

Children to be served: Child under age 13 or up to 18 if child is physically or mentally incapable of caring for him/herself or is under court supervision.

Provider Information: Any legal child care providers in Kansas may be used for care under any of the programs. Parents have a choice of Licensed family or Group day care homes, Registered family day care, Child Care Centers (regulated or unregulated legally exempt), Out-of-home Relatives, Head Start, and In-home care.

** Each family determined "income eligible" shall be assessed a monthly fee based on family size and monthly gross income. This fee is the "family share" the parent or guardian pays the child care provider monthly for all children receiving care.
