As mandated by Kansas Statute 75-5392, the Kansas Commission
for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing comprises 17 members
who are responsible for the policies and management of
the Commission. The membership consists of the following:
- Five ex officio members. One member each shall represent:
- Vocational rehabilitation services
- Social services
- The department of health and environment
- The state board of education
- The state school for the deaf
- Twelve members appointed by the governor:
- Six Deaf or hard of hearing members, one of which
shall represent the Kansas Association of the Deaf
- A speech-language pathologist
- A representative of the state registry of interpreters
for the deaf
- A psychologist, nurse, teacher, rehabilitation counselor
or social worker serving the deaf or hard of hearing
- A hearing parent of a deaf or hard of hearing person
- A clinical audiologist
- An otolaryngologist
