CDDOs & CSPs

What is a CDDO?

CDDO is the acronym for Community Developmental Disability Organization. CDDOs are the single point of entry for an individual or family to obtain services through the developmental disabilities system in the State of Kansas. CDDOs are responsible for determining whether a person qualifies for services, working with the person and/or their family or guardian in choosing from an array of service options, and referring those persons to other agencies if additional supports are needed. Kansas currently has 28 CDDOs, each of which are assigned a particular county or counties in which they are the primary provider of “gatekeeping” services.

What is a CSP?

CSP is the acronym for Community Service Provider. A CSP is defined in K.S.A 39-1803 as a CDDO or affiliate thereof that provide services to eligible persons in compliance with the Developmental Disabilities Reform Act and its implementing regulations. Among other things, a CSP must: 1) maintain compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations; 2) satisfy any licensing requirements; 3) comply with all CDDO written procedures; and 4) comply with all applicable terms contained in the DBHS/CSS & CDDO Contract regarding community service providers.
