SAMHSA Initiatives
and Kansas Connection

Evidence Based Practice Home

Evidence Based Practice is being promoted through the National Evidence Based Practice Demonstration Project, through which SAMHSA’s toolkits for six EBPs are being tested and refined in eight states.

The State EBP Training and Evaluation grants, through which states (some overlapping those in the National Demonstration project) received three-year grants to implement and evaluate at least one toolkit.

The NIMH-CMHS EBP Planning Grants, assisted states in initiating the EBP implementation planning process, and together with the NRI;s Center for Mental Health Quality and Accountability (CMHQA), for promoting the development and dissemination of EBPs. The initial 6 Evidence Based Practices identified included: Assertive Community Treatment, Illness Self Management and Recovery, Supported Employment, Family Psycho Education, Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment, and Medication Algorithms.

Kansas is participating in the 8-state Demonstration Project with Supported Employment sites and Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment sites. To view a PDF map of the CMHC's who have implemented the EBP Tool Kit in Kansas click here.
