The Division
of Children and Family Policy (CFP) is responsibile for delivering
a broad range of child welfare services, as outlined under the Kansas
Code for Care of Children. Principal among these services are the
oversight and purchase of quality child care; prevention and identification
of child maltreatment and protective services to secure child safety,
permanence, and well-being; assessment of families in which a child
may be in need of care due to at-risk child behavior (truancy, runaway,
and ou-of-parental-control); and providing an array of directly
delivered and contracted services to Children and their families.
The mission
of the division is to protect children; promote permanent, nurturing
families; and strengthen community partnerships to serve children.
Safety and permanency for children cannot be accomplished by the
public child welfare agency alone, so the division is actively involved
in reaching out to other public, private, and community agencies
as partners and collaborators in the improvement of child and family
well-being.
