July 17 2002 - RE: Governor's Commission on Autism to meet July 24th in WichitaThe Governor's Commission on Autism will meet Wednesday, July 24th, at the Wichita St. Hughes Metropolitan Complex, 29th and Oliver, in Wichita. The address is 5015 East 29th Street North. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. Among agenda items is consideration of how recent state and local budget cuts are impacting children and families with autism, as well as continued discussion of a possible early intervention waiver for families with children with autism. A waiver would provide community support for children with autism who otherwise would be admitted to a hospital or other institution. Also on the agenda is discussion of the possible creation of regional centers on Autism.
