June 4, 2001 - Consumers of social services and their families are invited to attend SRS public meeting in TopekaThe Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) is holding a public meeting in the Topeka area to gather input from individuals and families receiving social services. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 19, from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Topeka Area Office, Large Conference Room, 500 SW Van Buren. The meeting will offer consumers and their families a chance to speak with SRS Secretary Janet Schalansky, share their ideas and concerns, and help SRS plan for the future of social service programs in Kansas. SRS administers a variety of social service programs in Kansas that include child abuse and neglect reporting, foster care, adoption, family preservation, cash and medical assistance, vocational rehabilitation, services for persons with disabilities, mental health and substance abuse treatment and recovery, child support enforcement, and adult protective services.
