August 23, 2000 - Public meeting on Autism set for September 12 in Topeka

A public forum for anyone with questions or concerns about the services provided persons with Autism will be held during the quarterly meeting of the Governor’s Commission on Autism on September 12.

The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the public forum will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Room C of the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services’ Learning Center, 300 SW Oakley, Topeka. The Learning Center is on the west side of the former Topeka State Hospital campus.

Also on the agenda are a series of subcommittee reports, including an update on services available for persons with Autism in Kansas. A neurological disorder that interferes with communication skills, Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that makes learning difficult and can lead to serious behavior problems.
