The Topeka Area Office of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services will be located in a new building effective Monday, October 16. The new location, 500 S.W. Van Buren in downtown Topeka, will open at 8 a.m.

All services currently administered at 235 S. Kansas Avenue now be administered at the 500 S.W. Van Buren office building. These include cash assistance, medical assistance, child care services, Food Stamp assistance, child support enforcement, rehabilitation services, child protection services, adoption, and foster care.

The main telephone number for the Topeka Area Office, 296-2500, will remain the same. In addition, all individual SRS employee telephone numbers will remain the same.

Robena Farrell, Topeka area director, said service delivery should not be interrupted by the move. The SRS office at 235 S. Kansas Avenue will be open for business until 5 p.m. on Friday, October 13. It will not be open after that time.

Farrell said an open house to allow the community to look at the new office building will be scheduled within a few months.
