November 26,1997 - RE: SRS Open Meeting set for Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Manhattan Planning going on to prepare for a major increase in funding to provide health insurance for uninsured children and other ongoing initiatives within the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services will top the agenda for a Tuesday, Dec. 2 SRS Open Meeting in Manhattan. The meeting will be held at the Manhattan Holidome, 530 Richard Drive, beginning at 9 a.m. SRS Secretary Rochelle Chronister and Deputy Secretary Janet Schalansky will provide information on Legislative initiatives as the agency prepares for the 1998 Kansas Legislative session beginning in January, 1998. Hosted by Manhattan Area Director Flordie Pettis, the meeting is open to the public. Secretary Chronister will introduce SRS Commissioners, who will also detail initiatives of their respective commissions for the 1998 legislative session. SRS officials will
also respond to questions and comments from the public during the Open
Meeting. Through a telephone hook-up, the Secretary, Deputy Secretary,
and commissioners will also be able to respond to questions from the SRS
Area Offices across the state. SRS Area Offices are located in Chanute,
Emporia, Garden City, Kansas City, Hays, Topeka, Wichita, Olathe, Salina,
