May 31, 1995 - June 6 public meeting on upcoming SRS budget gives Kansans opportunity to help shape future programs An open meeting giving Kansans an opportunity to have input into the upcoming 1997 budget of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services is scheduled June 6, 1995. Rochelle Chronister, SRS Secretary, said the purpose of the public meeting is to allow people affected by SRS programs an opportunity to have input. It is apparent that social service agencies must find ways to make do with less," Chronister said. Changes being designed on the federal level will not allow a continuation of the current systems. We must work to find the best use of resources available. Program recipients, advocates and other Kansans should use this forum as an opportunity for input into future SRS programs." The public meeting will be held at SRS Staff Development Training Center, Topeka State Hospital Grounds, 300 S.W. Oakley, Topeka, beginning at 9:30 p.m. and ending at 12:30 p.m. or as soon as those present to testify have been given an opportunity to have input.
