October 5, 1995 - Public meetings scheduled on proposed transfer of long term care programs from SRS to Aging; comments welcome

Public meetings have been scheduled to receive input on a plan being developed to transfer several long term care programs now operated by the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services to the Kansas Department of Aging.

Transfer of the following SRS programs to Aging -- Adult Protective Services, Income Eligible Homecare, Medicaid Home and Community Services Nursing Facility Waiver, and Medicaid Nursing Facility -- is scheduled to take place January 1, 1997.

A working group composed of representatives from both agencies has prepared a draft transition plan which will serve as the basis for discussion on the proposal.
