Larned State Hospital is located on a 78 acre campus along  the Arkansas River and Santa Fe Trail.
The Larned area boasts of many historic landmarks and fine museums. Ft. Larned, located just six miles
west of the city, is the best preserved Fort in the state and is fascinating to visit. There are several
small colleges located nearby and Fort Hays State University is an hour away. Exciting recreational
opportunities exist.  Pawnee County has great "bird" and "deer" hunting potential. Quivira Game Refuge
and Cheyenne Bottoms are well known for the excellent duck and goose hunting and are located minutes
away from Larned.  Hutchinson, Hays and Dodge City are located about an hour away. Wichita is two hours.
The Colorado "slopes" are within an eight hour drive.
