SRS Family Services

  • Statewide, there have been 3007 referrals for Family Preservation Services (by county or by region).
  • Without proper control is one of  the most frequent presenting reasons involved in a family preservation case.

Children Served in SRS Custody

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Statewide, there have been 6,728 children in SRS custody on 06/30/06.
  • Year to date, 9,131 children have been in out of home placement. On 06/30/06 there were 5,428 children in out of home placement..
  • The most frequent maltreatment removal reason into foster care is physical neglect.
  • The contract regions with the greatest percentage of children placed with a relative are Regions 1 and 3.  Statewide, 25% or children are placed with relatives.  Statewide, 7% are placed in group or residential care.  See more about placements.
  • Statewide the number of children awaiting adoption on 06/30/06 was 938.  Children considered as awaiting adoption have had parental rights terminated on both parents, have a permanency goal of adoption, and are not yet placed in a pre-adoptive home placement.
  • The average length of time in placement for all children who have exited care this year is 19 months. 
  • 54% of children have goal of reintegration.

  • 99.4% of children do not experience maltreatment during family preservation within 90 days.
  • 99.81% of children do not experience maltreatment in foster care.
  • Families do not experience maltreatment after family preservation within 12 months (not available until 8/06).
  • Children who leave care do not experience maltreatment after permanency (not available until 8/06) .
  • 56.77% of children maintain connections with community while in foster care.
  • 48.7% of children placed outside their home have regular school attendance.
  • 56.3% of children improved or maintained academic performance.
