Upcoming Events:

  • Motivational Interviewing Basics and Booster (3 day series) are now underway in 6 locations. Registrations have been very busy and all classes are full. If you're on a waiting list, we'll notify you of any seats that become available.
  • The new online version of Children & Domestic Violence: Successful Strategies is now available through the SRS Student Center. A copy of this course will be available from this site and KCSDV very soon - and that event will be announced to child welfare case management provider agencies. This course is now a prerequisite for attending a new advanced level course on domestic violence.
  • Domestic Violence Advanced: Safe & Together - the new advanced level course on domestic violence issues is now being delivered in locations across the state. Please pre-register and plan to attend this very interesting class.
  • Best Practices in Kansas Child Welfare Law - Fall 2009 The Office of Judicial Administration, the Supreme Court Task Force on Permanency Planning, and SRS are making four 1-day workshops available. Topic covered will include the Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008, Tools of Accountability, and Permanency for Children with Family Substance Abuse issues. Presenters include: Timothy Travis, J.D., Sue McKenna, J.D., Ass't Director of CFS, and Theresa Lemus, Program Associate with Children and Family Futures, Inc. and NCSACW.

In State Conferences

  • Successful Families through Effective Partnerships
    1-day Kansas Child Welfare & Substance Abuse Conference will be held August 27 th in Lawrence at: Maceli's - 1031 New Hampshire. This conference is intended for professionals working in the substance abuse prevention, substance abuse treatment or child welfare arenas who are committed to effective collaborations that address the broad needs of these families. Sponsored by DCCCA, Inc. and funded by SRS
  • 11 th Annual Excellence in Supervision Conference is returning to its original fall schedule and will be held September 23 & 24, 2009 - in conjunction with the Workforce Initiative Kick-off Meeting. These Conferences will be held in Salina at the Ramada Inn. Registration will be available on the Children's Alliance of Kansas website in August. (www.childally.org ).
  • 33rd Annual Governor's Conference on the Prevention of Child Abuse & Neglect will be held November 4 - 6, 2009 at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Topeka. Registration will be available on the KCSL website soon.
